ABOUT My Boyfriend the Pilot (Chicago, USA) Far from the ocean of carbon-copied electronic acts, near such creative islands as the Residents and Stereolab, My Boyfriend the Pilot is a creation of audio genius ripped from the heart and viciously fervent mind of its creator, Minmei Decelis. From the deepest, darkest corners of her psyche she bares all, in a melodically transcendental form. She has been described by critics as representing some of the most innovative sounds-styling towards electronica, rhythmic noise and dark ambient genres.
The music created by Minmei Decelis tends to crawl under your skin, shapes the most fantastic images, and stays challenging by means of an intelligent use of samples, rhythms and beats.
My Boyfriend the Pilot – a project name derived from an episode of the science fiction anime series Robotech - exercises a surreal science of structure that throbs and pulsates in an almost obsessive manner. The music is almost suggestive of a mechanical assembly line in its clock work rhythm, pulsing ambient echoes of machine- milled passion, and sampling of the beating, tell-tale heart of the dark ambient underground.
The box set, entitled Cleared Touch and Go, contains all past releases as well as the brand newly released extended composition Center of Changes. As a special addition to the collection, the box will also contain a disc of remixes and videos produced specifically for this special edition release. Artists contributing to the remix and video portion of the set include Big City Orchestra (featuring Daevid Allen of Gong and Jonathan Segal of Camper Van Beethoven), Malaysian sound experimentalists Space Gambus Experiment, veteran ambient experimentalists Nux Vomica, Tokyo-based IF? Records founder Andrez Bergan, as well as premiere works by JJ Sonick, Robert Lane, and Rhedcerulean. Cleared Touch and Go comes in a hand assembled, numbered box featuring 5 specially packaged and designed CDs as well as full liner notes for all releases and a collection of visual oddities and associated ephemera.
